Letter to July, by d.s.l.

My dear July,

Perhaps these words have been long due

Or perhaps these lives for us are too

Today, I am happy

Happy for you,

And happy for me

No longer should we,

be ghosts

For now we are alive

With hope

With laughter

There is someone to dine with us

There is someone to smile with us

It’s not you,

It’s not me,

But it’s the person who set us free

In their new eyes,

We are not blind

In their new kisses

We are not lost

This moment are now just ours

Like when we were just you and me

But moments are but moments

Like summer’s flowers and winter’s withers

My dear July,

We don’t get to choose how we are dealt with

But we can always choose how to deal with

Always choose kindness

Always choose love

For to be kind is to be brave

To have suffered unkindness,

But learn of kindness

To love is to be brave

To have suffered brokenness,

But learn of love

We will be far and we will be long

I will miss you and you might miss me too

But wipe your tears to hear my love

Shut out your fear and read my words:

For on nights like this

The wind shall brings me back to you

But if the sky are clear

Then look up to the stars and kiss me still

I shall wait under the heavens

For soon my earth shall turn from day to night

And draws your lips to mine again

My dear July,

Forever I love you.
